If you’ve ever traveled abroad and had to shower in sub-desirable conditions, you know the wonderful feeling of returning home to your own nice hot, big shower. Well, showers have become more that just a watering hole, but are now steam enclosures that act more as a sauna than a shower. How do they work? What are the components? What are some options?

Steam showers use a special panel to serve as a multi-function shower. Like traditional shower door enclosures, glass panels secure the shower area. However, with a steam shower, glass panels are floor to ceiling with a special swivel panel installed. This swivel panel allows steam to escape or stay enclosed in the shower area.

The swivel panel is just a small glass panel that uses a special swivel hinge to rock back and forth creating a small opening. Glass panels also use special vinyl gaskets that contain steam within the shower.
